At
Queen Eleanor Primary School we are lucky enough to have a dedicated ICT
suite with 16 stations, Internet access and a projected teaching screen.
Whole class lessons take place in the ICT suite with children sharing,
two per computer. Some of our smaller classes can work individually.
This enables the teaching of specific ICT skills and practice of them in
n exciting and enriching environment. We also have computers in
classrooms. All children have regular opportunities to use ICT for a
range of purposes, including word processing, desktop publishing,
spreadsheets, database interrogation, control technology (including the
use of our floor turtles), research skills and to enhance other
curriculum teaching and learning. We have a wide range of programs to
suit the needs of all age ranges from nursery to year 6. Our youngest
children enjoy computer access as much as our older children.
Working collaboratively helps develop good communication skills. A
very recent addition to our ICT facilities are classroom based
interactive Smartboards which have begun to revolutionise the way in
which we deliver material to the children in the classroom in all
curriculum areas. Both the staff and children are excited by these new
facilities and we are learning new things every day. Computers are
used to help children with special educational needs. We aim to make
ICT an exciting experience for all pupils, promoting confident,
competent users in this age of technology.
