Roman Day

Salve!
Year 4 spent a very enjoyable day at Bradwell Abbey finding out about the Romans. The day started with looking at some of the foods that the Romans would have eaten, cooking some of it and then tasting it! Some of the expressions on the children’s faces rather told us that they didn’t enjoy this last experience! After that we went up to the site of the Roman villa at Bancroft and even though it was quite blowy on the top of the hill, the children enjoyed finding out which room would have been where and filling in their plans. This was followed by lunch and a visit to the shop. After lunch a Roman soldier told the children what it would have been like to be in the Roman Army and then they had a chance to try on a helmet, hold a shield and handle a sword. The children were a credit to the school throughout the day as their behaviour was superb and they were praised by the centre staff for working so well with a group from another school. Well done Year 4
